How to Make Ice Cream
This farm family loves ice cream! I have made ice cream from scratch for years but nothing beats homemade ice cream better than homemade ice cream with fresh cream and raw milk! It is absolutely delicious and so simple to make. For years, I have made ice cream using a recipe that requires cooking the ingredients, then chilling that mixture before churning. I discovered this recipe last year when we first starting using raw milk is a much easier process and so tasty! I mix it in my blender and then add it to the ice cream churn. Easy as pie...or should I say ice cream.
What you need:
Ice cream churn
Milk
Cream
sugar
vanilla
pinch or two of salt (sea salt is my favorite)
Ice for churn
Rock salt for churn
I add equal parts of milk and cream to the blender.
4 cups of each makes roughly 2 1/2 - 3 quarts of ice cream. So if your churn is smaller, use less.
3 teaspoons vanilla flavor
2 pinches of sea salt
3/4 cup sugar (more if you like it really sweet, I could almost eat it without sugar at all)
Mix in blender.
Pour into ice cream churn and follow directions for churning.
We've added chocolate syrup, peppermint essential oil with crushed peppermint candy, mashed bananas, strawberries, blueberries, nuts, and candy bars for fun flavoring. So let's make it an ice cream night! Who's with me? I have full agreement with the farm family! We all scream for ice cream!
