How to Make Homemade Sour Cream

I thought sour cream was a little more involved than it actually is. When I went to make it the first time, I thought “this is the most simply dairy product I’ve made yet.” Sour cream can be as easy as just setting the cream out on the counter for 1-2 days until it becomes sour. That’s how I have made it so far and it tastes great and tangy! I will warn you homemade sour cream is not as thick as the store bought variety but otherwise it’s really good. You’ll get used to the consistency in no time.

I have read that adding buttermilk or cultures to the cream makes it super tasty too. That’s on my list to try next time we make it. Watch here for the results of my next sour cream making venture. I’d love to hear how you make your sour cream.
