How to Make Fried Squirrel
What you need:
Frying pan of grease (have this warming up while you’re preparing the other stuff)
Squirrel meat (have fun with this one…just please don’t go to the butcher and ask for it)
Flour
Buttermilk (or plain milk or cream)
Eggs
Salt and pepper
Make up a bowl of flour mixed with salt and pepper to taste. The amount of flour depends on how much meat you have. I usually start with about 1 cup and mix more if needed.
In another bowl mix together about 1 cup of buttermilk (milk or cream) and one egg. Again, you can adjust these amounts depending on the amount of meat.
Put meat in buttermilk mixture until coated well
Roll in flour mixture until well coated.
Place battered meat in hot grease and fry until crispy and meat is done.
Two squirrels made five pieces of meat, so the Farm Children licked it up, while the rest of us ate fried chicken!
I use this recipe to fry nearly everything that I fry…yum, yum!
