Green beans
I know you’re thinking “Does she really have to tell us how to make green beans?”, but you would be surprised how many people ask me how I make my green beans. So I will explain.
I take my canned green beans from our garden (or fresh if I have them) and put them in a pan (liquid and all) with some salt and pepper to taste and a good blob or two of bacon grease and let them simmer until juicy and tender. If I’m home most of the day I’ll put them on the stove as early in the day as I can and let them simmer. Sometimes it’s right before supper and we have to quickly cook them. Oh, I could eat the whole serving. It’s goodness from the garden to enjoy all year long!
Extra tips:
When I had a crock pot (mine broke and I never replaced it) I would sometimes cook them in that.
You can also add little potatoes to them for more fun! I save my ‘baby’ potatoes from the garden for this purpose.
Throw a slice of bacon in the pan adds another tasty flavor!
